Medicine. Aviation. Medviatic.

Hello and welcome to my personal website, MedViatic.com.

I am Johannes, a medical doctor in the UK. This website contains a small collection of my recent work as I slowly create a digital presence -- something I really should have done earlier in my life. Still, better late than never!

Join me as I navigate the world of post-graduate medicine. From pursuing my interests in medical research and aviation, to learning more about computers and programing. And when things quiet down, there is always time for relaxing with friends, playing boardgames, hiking, camping and more.

What's in a name?

MedViatic (MEDicine and aVIATIC), is an amalgamation of two things in my life I find fascinating: medicine and aviation.  Both very exciting and rewarding experiences.  I entered medicine having first pursued a BSc in Molecular Medicine. Not wanting to be limited to the bench, I then pursued graduate medicine with the dual goals of continuing my biomedical career while also assuming the role of a physician at the bedside -- After all, it is always helpful if you can see the problems you are trying to solve. Along the way I have made many friends, helped plenty of patients, and have had many fascinating experiences.

My first taste of heavier than air flight came by way of the Imperial College Gliding Club and let's just say I have been hooked ever since. Not only is it an adventure, but it is a very accessible sport. Using naturally occurring air currents to stay in the air is a bit like playing chess in the sky, and gliding is an excellent way to get into aviation.

How about a career which combines the two? That is something to think about for the future...
